Sign up for our latest event updatesOn November 23, the Book Review will announce this year’s 10 Best Books — and Times subscribers will hear it first.
Join us for our third annual celebration, hosted by Pamela Paul and the Book Review team. Hear Times journalists weigh in on these stellar fiction and nonfiction books, and share some of their personal favorites that didn’t quite make the cut. Mindy Kaling, actor, producer and author of “Nothing Like I Imagined (Except for Sometimes),” will kick things off with a special welcome.
Stick around afterwards for our first-ever after party: Book Review editors will be ready to chat and hear from you about your own best books list of the year!
Why is this event so early in the day? So that Times subscribers can get a first look at the list, before it's published for all to see. Newsroom hours are unforgiving! To our West Coast friends: Set your alarms, brew an extra pot of coffee and start your day with us. We promise to make excellent breakfast conversation.
This year calls for something warm, generous and crumbly. May we suggest an interactive Cookie Swap? Join NYT Cooking’s Melissa Clark as she demonstrates irresistible recipes to share with friends (or not), and answers your baking questions live, along with Dorie Greenspan, Sohla El-Waylly and Samantha Seneviratne. Stay tuned on Facebook and Instagram throughout December for your chance to participate in this event.
When -- and why -- does Hollywood look to Broadway for inspiration? How does a great play or musical turn into an extraordinary movie?

Want a little more love for the end of your year? Join Modern Love editors (and podcast co-hosts) Daniel Jones and Miya Lee for an evening celebrating all kinds of love. We’ll be exploring the new book “Tiny Love Stories: True Tales of Love in 100 Words or Less” with performances of never-before-heard stories by top actors, curated animated videos and live discussion with authors of these uplifting, heartbreaking and powerful tales. R.S.V.P. to learn how to submit your own Tiny Love Story, and we may include it in the event!
The inaugural title in T’s book club, James Baldwin’s 1953 novel “Go Tell It on the Mountain,” explores the story of a teenage boy struggling with his family, his religion and, in the larger sense, the world of Harlem in the 1930s. Nearly 70 years after its publication, the book's exploration of race, religion and sexuality feels deeply relevant to our present moment. On Dec. 17, join us for a virtual discussion of the book, featuring the novelist and T contributor Ayana Mathis in conversation with T Magazine features director Thessaly La Force, who will also address your questions. In the weeks leading up to the event, watch for articles on “Go Tell It on the Mountain” and its legendary author at tmagazine.com. We hope you'll read along — and R.S.V.P. above.
